Inspiration for Parents with Broken Hearts

Are you a mom or dad who has had your heart crushed by your child’s choices and behaviors? Have you wondered if your sacrifices made any difference? Encouraging Words Have you felt taken advantage of, mistreated, rejected or wounded? Has this left you feeling emotionally paralyzed at times – disheartened?
If this describes you, then I urge you to make the time to watch this video. It moved my heart in a powerful way. I think it will surprise you. Two sisters made it to honor their mom on Mother’s Day, but their message can be for dads, too. Another struggling parent shared it with me. I don’t watch many videos posted on youtube, but I’m so glad I watched this one. If you watch it, I think you’ll agree. The parent who shared this video with me sent a follow-up email the next day adding this thought:
Every parent who has prayed for their child and stood in the gap for them is the “bump”  that has saved their lives.
After you watch the video this comment will make more sense.
You are that “bump”. You are what has made the difference. Yes, you.
Let those words sink into your heart. Chew on them. Ponder them. Believe them.
Your prayers and your love have great power – far more than you realize.
Your life, your faith, your sacrifices, and your unconditional, selfless love have kept your child alive.
You. Are. That. Bump.
Never give up. Never give in. Never stop praying. Don’t quit now. You have no idea what God is doing in your child’s life at this very moment – or how your impact has influenced them. You do not know what today or tomorrow may bring – so keep trusting and hold on to hope.
You may want to grab a tissue before you watch this video. When you do, be prepared to receive a blessing.
These Bible verses give me deep comfort:
“So he (God) said he would destroy them – had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him to keep his wrath from destroying them.”  (Psalms 106:23) (Moses was that “bump” for God’s people.)
“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You preserve my life…”  (Psalms 134:7)
“But my eyes are fixed on You, O Sovereign Lord; I lift up my voice to the Lord for mercy. I pour out my complaint before him…I cry to you, O Lord; I say, ‘You are my refuge.’ ”  (Psalms 142:1-3)
“Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You.”   (Psalms 143:8)
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.”   (I John 3:16)
Jesus is the heavenly “bump” that was given to save us all. Because he laid down his life, we can live – really live – now and forever. He is our example. In Him we find the courage and strength to be that bump for our children for as long as it takes.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. This ministered to me more than words can ever say. I’ve been at the point of wanting to give up – I am just so exhausted. But your words and the video have been MY bump!!!
